VIRGINIA — Former Iron Range State Rep. Jason Metsa, 43, was released from St. Louis County Jail on Tuesday after being held for probable cause of criminal sexual conduct charges.
Metsa was booked Saturday by the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office.
“This morning Mr. Metsa was released without charges at this time,” said Bonnie Norlander, head of the Range Criminal Division of the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office to Iron Range Today. “A charging decision has not been made. This matter is pending further investigation and review.
Metsa was the Minnesota House 6B Representative from 2013 to 2018, when he left state politics for an unsuccessful run at Congress. He also served as the deputy commissioner of the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation until last year, and temporarily moved to the Minnesota Department of Health during the COVID-19 pandemic as a program manager for testing and vaccines.
